A recent report on the exploitation of workers during the construction of the European Council’s Europa building sheds light on Europe’s reliance on and frequent mistreatment of workers with precarious or irregular status and raises important questions about accountability in supply chains.
In December 2019, PICUM, La Strada International and Victim Support Europe collaborated with MEP Domènec Ruiz Devesa (S&D – Spain) to organise an event in the European Parliament addressing the current shortcomings in victim support, labour rights and compensation. The event brought together key actors from the European Commission, Members of European Parliament, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA)and a range of civil society organisations.
