VSE full member Victim Support NI, the leading charity helping victims and witnesses of crime in Northern Ireland, have achieved the Investing in Volunteers Award, recognising the excellent work they do with volunteers.
Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations involving volunteers. It aims to improve the quality of the volunteering experience and demonstrates that organisations value the enormous contribution made by their volunteers.
The process of achieving the award took 12 months and involved a rigorous review of all the volunteering policies, an external assessor interviewing and conducting focus groups with volunteer and the completion of a development plan addressing any gaps that were highlighted. Once an external assessment is completed the organisation has to pass a Northern Ireland panel and a UK panel.
We are pleased that we were able to achieve this award and feel confident that this is just a first step to ensuring we continue to develop an innovative volunteering programme.
