Croatian Ministry of Justice supports the National call center and publishes call for proposals

Ministry of Justice and the Croatian Victim and Witness Support Service signed the new two-year Cooperation agreement in order to continue providing the services of the National call centre for victims of crime and misdemeanor 116 006, which was established in 2013. The Agreement was signed on June 14th 2017 by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Kristian Turkalj and Executive Director of the Croatian Victim and Witness Support Service, Miren Špek. After the successful four years long cooperation, Ministry of Justice continues with the practice of formally including NGOs and volunteers in the development of the victim and witness support system in Croatia, which contributes to the enhancement of the quality of services provided, openness and accessibility of governmental bodies and the strengthening of social awareness for rights of victims and witnesses.

The Ministry of Justice will publish the call for proposals in July in order to provide financing of NGOs in the counties where there are no offices for victim and witness support at courts. Financing of NGOs from the lottery funds is planned through 3 years programme – from 2018 to 2020. The aim is to develop the victim and witness support system through supporting the partnership of organizations in the field of victim and witness support. Presentation of the main proposition of the upcoming call was held on May 5th 2017 in the Ministry of Justice to the 14 interested NGOs, with additional 5 NGOs which followed the presentation through the live streaming.
